Meet the owners
At the heart of Big Bear Academy are Andrew and Maxine – a husband and wife team who pour their hearts into everything they do. They’re not just the owners – they’re a daily presence, greeting families at the door, checking in with the team, and getting to know each child by name.
What started as a dream to create a warm, loving space for children has grown into something really special. Families often say the centre feels calm and welcoming – and that’s no accident. It’s a reflection of how much Andrew and Maxine genuinely care.
When you walk through our doors, you’ll feel it too. This is more than a childcare centre - it’s a community where your child will be truly seen, supported, and encouraged to thrive.

Miss Claudia
Hi, my name is Claudia and I am the Centre Director at Big Bear Academy St Andrews. With over 25 years in early childhood education, I’ve been fortunate to work across many roles that have shaped my leadership and strengthened my commitment to quality early learning.
Building genuine, lasting relationships with families is one of my greatest passions, as I believe children thrive most when families and educators work together. There is nothing more rewarding than watching children grow in confidence, resilience and curiosity.
At St Andrews, I strive to create a warm, inclusive and inspiring environment where every child feels safe, valued and ready to explore. Since joining Big Bear Academy in February 2024, I’ve continued to grow as a leader through the guidance and support provided, helping me better support our educators, children and families.

Miss Sarah
Hello families, I’m Miss Sarah and I’m the Centre Director at Big Bear Academy Minto.
I’ve been in early childhood education for 11 years, with the past five spent in management, and I’ve genuinely loved every minute. My passion for early childhood development began when I became an aunty at a young age and discovered how rewarding it is to nurture children as they grow.
Being part of each child’s milestones and having open, meaningful communication with parents is truly the highlight of what I do. I can’t wait to meet your child and welcome your family into our state-of-the-art centre and the warm, supportive and inspiring environment we have created. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out anytime — I’m here to make your family feel at ease.
